In operation since 2006, the Essex County Day Reporting Center, in conjunction with the New Jersey State Parole Board (NJSPB), provides a specialized reentry program for women.  This program fulfills a need identified by the NJSPB, due to the high concentration of female offenders under their supervision.

Services are provided to twenty women, ten of whom receive transitional housing services and ten for women who are not considered placement cases, needing housing.

For the transitional housing clients, the program primarily focuses on homelessness prevention, by providing transitional housing and then support with securing permanent housing upon graduation.

For both populations, the goal is to prevent clients from becoming re-involved in the criminal justice system by providing a safe, stable and supportive environment.  This goal is reached by providing participants the tools and support needed to become contributing members of the community.  Case Management services include: (on an as needed basis) employment/educational assistance, vocational/daily living/money management/parenting skills, nutrition planning, and basic “how to cope with day-to-day stressor” skills.
